Tilt Shift Photography
Prior to the mainstream use of digital photography and image manipulating software, photographers had to rely on their cameras to do things such as perspective correction and selective focus. This was done using a camera that allowed the photographer to change the relationship of the lens and film planes to the subject. These camera movements, called tilt (vertical change or movement) and shift (horizontal change or movement), allowed photographers to control the focus and perspective of pictures using the laws of optics. While somewhat confusing to the amateur photographer, Adobe Photoshop software makes focus and perspective control simple.
